Tinnitus is an uncomfortable ringing sensation in the ears that doesn't seem to ever go away. It's a symptom of other hearing-related issues, and in some instances dental issues as well.
That's why we encourage anyone suffering from tinnitus to come in and talk with one of our oral surgeons about the issue.
Curing TinnitusTinnitus is an unpleasant condition and something that nobody wants to live with if they can avoid doing so, unfortunately curing the issue isn't always simple to do.
There are many different factors leading to tinnitus, and it's important to evaluate all of them to try and determine the root cause and whether it's treatable or not. While most of the issues are within the ear canal itself, there are some possible problems within the mouth, and that's where we can help.
Conditions like dental abscesses, TMJ and impacted wisdom teeth can all lead to tinnitus under the right conditions. These problems may or may not be the cause of the ear ringing sensation, but they're important to at least consider. Visit our office and have your mouth evaluated for the three issues listed up above, and you may find out there is a correction for your tinnitus.
Have Dental Fillings ReplacedAnother cause of tinnitus in some patients that we see are amalgam or silver fillings. They contain large amounts of mercury, and can actually cause damage to the mouth and tinnitus in some conditions. Removing these filling and replacing them with safer alternatives can help stop the damage and in some instances even cure tinnitus.
There is no one cure for every person suffering from the uncomfortable ear-ringing sensation, and that's why we treat every patient individually.
Visit our office and speak with an oral surgeon and you just might find out how to cure your tinnitus once and for all. Even if the treatment doesn't fix the tinnitus, it will leave you with a healthier mouth and jaw, and it could lessen the problem.
